About Central Christian Church
Welcome to Central Christian Church
We are Disciples of Christ, a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world.
As part of the one body of Christ, we welcome all to the Lord’s Table as God has welcomed us.
Whether you are just starting to explore what the Christian faith is about, or if you have been a part of the church for your whole life, we are all people on a spiritual journey, and this church is committed to helping you wherever you may be on that journey.
We’re an inclusive church. We invite everyone to come and join with us.
What to Expect
Are you new to the church? Not sure who to contact, where to park, or what kind of culture we have here?

The Four Priorities of our Church
At the 2001 General Assembly, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) adopted the 2020 Vision, which contained four priorities that will guide the Church through the first two decades of the 21st century.
The Four Priorities are:
Formation of 1,000 new congregations by 2020
Transformation of 1,000 current congregations by 2020
Leadership development necessary to realize these new and renewed congregations
Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
About Pastor Sheldon Hendersen
Pastor Sheldon is a second career minister and comes from a family of Disciples of Christ ministers. He has served two Disciples of Christ congregations here in central IA and a Methodist/Presbyterian church in South East IA over the last 15 years. He grew up on a farm outside of Waukee and attended Van Meter High school before pursuing several degrees in Automotive and Diesel mechanics and Collison repair at several area colleges. His second career led him to pursue official accreditation as a commissioned minister with the Disciples of Christ denomination.
He has been married to his wife Kim for over 30 years and they together have two adult children, daughter Devon(25) and son Thayne(24). Pastor Sheldon loves anything mechanical, working with his hands, playing guitar and trumpet, writing original praise music and singing anything that praises God. He has a private pilots license and is currently rehabbing a 100-year-old barn just north of Jefferson into a house.
